Thomas Smith Trugs are the original makers of The Royal Sussex Trug which was launched in 1829.

Founded in Herstmonceux, the classic gift for gardeners was invented by Thomas Smith.  The trug was inspired by an ancient idea dating back to the Anglo-Saxons.
