La Tourangelle Basil Infused Oil.  A beautifully balanced rapeseed oil with an aroma of freshly gathered basil.

Owner Matthieu Koblmeyer is the current owner of this 150 year-old mill that is used to create flavour intense oils.

The oils are created by grinding the shelled kernels.  These are roasted in cast iron kettles.  Next the roasted kernels are slowly pressed in an antique French press.  Following this time-honoured process the oil is filtered through cotton.  This careful process captures the natural flavours, nutrients and health benefits.

We always have a bottle in the kitchen pantry.  Outstanding flavour, perfect to drizzle over salads and a simple plate of pasta.  Ideal to enhance toasted sourdough croutons, chilled tomato soup and mozzarella.  Delicious with crushed warm potatoes.  Try it with poached chicken, fresh mint, grapes and a white wine dressing,  It’s amazing.

For a simple dressing; combine with a little Dijon mustard, Slow Vinegar Tomato Wine VinegarSlow Vinegar Co – Tomato Wine Vinegar.  Add a teaspoon of honey.  Mix or shake in a screw top jar.  Season to taste.  You will create a  fabulous dressing for mozzarella, burrata or roasted tomato salad.
