It’s wild outside and I’m fretting that the last of the Bramley apples are still to be gathered. No doubt they’ll be bruised at the foot of the try after this storm.
The kitchen is cosy, and there’s a pear and ginger cake still warm from the AGA whilst a gammon for Sunday brunch has been left to it’s own devices, slowly poaching with very little effort from me.
You’ll find the recipe on the farmhouse website. Search Dorset Apple Cake. Substitute the apples for pears or use a combination of both. Add two heaped teaspoons of ground ginger to the self-raising flour.
